 Bob Marley born as Robert Nesta Marley on February 6th 1945 in Nine Mile, Saint Ann Parish was the most prominent Jamaican singer, songwriter and musician.

A pioneer of reggae, his music was a blend of reggae, ska and rocksteady, soon became famous for his distinctive vocal and songwriting style.

Marley's impact on music increased the visibility of Jamaican music across the world and made him a global figure in popular culture. During his career, Marley became known as a Rastafarian icon and he infused his music with a sense of spirituality.

The greatest hits album Legend (1984) became the best-selling reggae album of all time. He is one of the best-selling musicians with estimated sales of more than 75 million records worldwide.

As a global symbol of Jamaican music, culture and identity, he was posthumously honoured with a designated Order of Merit by his nation.
